I paint both in Studio and outside (plein air).
This year, I started my plein air season in earnest in early May painting north of Montreal. With the pandemic, I'm for the time being staying away from farms and boats and docks and painting the woods where there are less people.
The Quebec landscape changes quickly in May and June. Plants bud and bloom in the course of a week or two. Ground that started brown, gray, red and muddy in May is covered with tiny wildflowers in early June before the canopy leafs out and covers everything with shade.
And the black flies. Joy.
The past couple of weeks I've been working north of Montreal outside the towns of Saint Agathe and Saint Faustin.
This series of little studies, started outside, finished in studio will be the basis of my next series of large landscapes. (And yes, the small studies and larger works are for sale.)
